How to get to Olomouc

Located in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, Olomouc is situated almost in the heart of the Central Europe and is easily accessed by train connections from regional airports of Prague, Warsaw, Ostrava, Bratislava and Vienna. Olomouc is situated on the Czech motorway network, with direct motorway connection to Prague (250 km), Ostrava (110 km), Brno (80 km), Bratislava (200 km) and Vienna (210 km).

By Plane

 

From Prague Airport:

From Vienna Airport:

There is a convenient coach connection, leaving Vienna airport for Olomouc four times a day, with change in Brno – see http://jizdenky.studentagency.cz/

 

By train

There are hourly train connections from Prague main railway station (Praha hl.n.), the journey takes two to 2 ½ hours, depending on connection. The time tables and tickets are available at http://www.cd.cz but can be easily obtained at the railway station.

Olomouc is located on the Czech railway backbone, offering easy, direct train connections to Prague, Ostrava, Cracow, Warszawa, Brno, Bratislava, Vienna and other central European cities.

 

Local city transport

  • By tram
    Take tram line 1 or 7 at the tram stop in front of the railway station (“Hlavní nádraží”) – going to the right – to the second stop (“Envelopa”). You can buy tram tickets (14 CZK) in tobacco shop directly at the tram station.
    When out of the tram, walk for about 100 m in the direction of the tram ride to the traffic lights, then turn to the right and walk for about 300 m to the Faculty of Science (big green-brown building on your right).
  • Taxi
    There is a taxi stand at a car park located about 40 m to the right (when leaving the railway station). Call taxi: RadioTaxi, e.g. ATLANT 800115050 (free if calling from Czech networks or phone booth)
